Originally trained as a primary school teacher, Simon's journey has been marked by 28 years in the backpacking industry, where he and Mark Kayes were pioneers. Simon's managerial prowess came to the forefront when they transformed the Waterloo Hotel into New Zealand's largest backpacker hostel in 1991, overseeing its operations for 25 years.

After the sale of the Wellington property in 2016, Simon co-founded Fairnui Group with Mark Kayes and Mike Single. Currently holding financial interest in two properties, Simon serves as a Director of Waterloo Investments Limited and Cazna Properties Limited, essential components of the Fairnui Group. His role as Administration Manager showcases his expertise in overseeing the Xero Accounting system, where he holds accreditation as a Xero partner, and managing accounting functions.

Michael Single, a seasoned professional with a Bachelor of Commerce degree since 1982, is a prominent director within Fairnui Group. Married since 1985 with three adult children, Michael's extensive career includes foundational roles in Metropolitan Life Retirement Villages and significant involvement in Aged Care and Mental Health sectors from 1985 to 2018.

As a director, he has played key roles in various entities, including Fairleigh Lodge Limited, Awanui Rest Home Limited, Torbay Rest Home Limited, Downtown Backpackers Limited, Hotel Waterloo Limited, Waiata Pacific Investments Limited, Waterloo Investments Limited, Cazna Properties Limited, Bay Investments Limited, Bayswater Properties (2011) Limited, and Waimana Investments Limited. Currently directing Secret Squirrel Investments (2007) Limited and serving as a trustee on five trusts since 1987, Michael's leadership contributes significantly to Fairnui Group's success and growth.
